Dr. Meg Sexsmith, optometrist
Dr. Meg Sexsmith is a licensed Doctor of Optometry with over 17 years of experience as an Optometrist and 27 years experience in the Optical industry. |

Dr. Ivy Koh, optometrist
Dr. Ivy Koh received both her Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Optometry degrees with Dean's Honours from the University of Waterloo. During her studies, she received numerous awards recognizing her aptitude for the profession, including the E.J. Chisholm Memorial Scholarship for Pediatric Optometry as well as the A.W. Cole Award for Clinical Excellence. In her final year, she completed an Ocular Disease and Therapeutics externship at Omni Eye Services in Atlanta, Georgia - a large tertiary care ophthalmology centre working closely with corneal, glaucoma and retinal ophthalmologists to treat ocular pathology.
After graduating in 2006, Dr. Koh worked in her home province of Ontario in both private practice and as a staff optometrist in an ophthalmology clinic. She also spent a few years at a large refractive surgery centre screening candidates for lasik surgery and managing post-operative complications. Having relocated to the west coast last year, she is looking forward to providing eye care services to the Shaughnessy community in Vancouver. |

Emilia Halasz, optician
Emilia Halasz is a skilled optician who came to Vancouver from the former Czechoslovakia via Australia. Originally a teacher, working with deaf children, she changed her profession, learning to manufacture gas-permeable and hard contact lenses, working for such places as the VGH Eye Care Centre for Dr. David Warner as well as the UBC Ophthalmology Department with Dr. Steven Drance, who was at the time the head of the department. She has continued her education by taking courses in dispensing, book-keeping and accounting.
In dispensing she has worked for London Optical, Iris, Pearl Vision and some local optometrists.
She is still taking courses for information or fun, she enjoys landscaping and decorating with plants and loves children.
She recently taken up her old interest in herbs and their current applications. |

Hazel Sioson,
optometric Assistant
Hazel Sioson completed Computer Business Specialist and Medical Office Assistant program from CDI College. Hazel has worked with Dr. Sexsmith since 2003 and has been part of Shaughnessy Optometry since the opening in August 2006.
In the clinic, Hazel is the office manager/optometric assistant. She does all the administration and all the preliminary testing before seeing the doctor. These tests include, auto refraction, intra-ocular pressure testing, color vision and visual fields. She also serves as a contact lens trainer where she teaches patients how to wear and care for their contact lenses. Hazel also lends a hand in picking out eyewear when she can.
Outside of the office, you will find Hazel on the dance floor. She is an avid line dance choreographer & instructor. She is also very passionate about the latin dance styles of salsa, merengue and her favorite bachata. |

Jeffy Ou-Yang
Aside from working part-time on Saturdays at Shaughnessy Optometry, Jeffy is a full-time student at UBC currently in 4th year Cell Biology & Genetics. In her spare time she enjoys baking and taking scenic strolls and she is an avid tea drinker. |
