Establishing a Good Contact Lens Fit and Why It’s Important

All patients must have an up to date full eye exam within 12 months prior to updating, changing or beginning their contact lens journey. This is to ensure a most up to date prescription and to also rule out any pre-existing conditions that can interfere with wearing contact lenses.

Fitting lenses to your lifestyle

Your doctor will select the most suitable contact lenses for you by considering your eye shape, prescription, and lifestyle requirements. Finding the ideal contact lenses can take some time because our doctors prioritize ensuring you achieve the best possible vision, fit, and comfort with your lenses.

If you’re trying a new type of contact lens or are new to wearing contacts altogether, you’ll likely have multiple appointments. These visits help us find the perfect fit and monitor how your eyes are responding. Follow-up appointments are crucial for our doctors to assess how well your eyes are adapting to the lenses and to make any necessary adjustments. Whether it’s improving comfort, fine-tuning your prescription, or comparing different lenses, these check-ins help us make sure your final prescription is exactly right for you.

Not Sure if Contact Lenses Are Right For You

Never worn contact lenses before or unsure if they’re right for you? Our doctors and staff are experts at determining whether contact lenses are a good fit for your eyes and lifestyle, helping you decide if you want to begin this journey. We also assess the appropriate age for children to start wearing contacts.

If you’re new to contact lenses and ready to get started after a full eye exam, here’s what to expect: First, you’ll have an in-clinic training session with one of our staff members who will teach you the proper techniques for inserting and removing your lenses. If you need more than one session, don’t worry—that’s completely normal and just part of the learning process. Once you’ve successfully completed the training, you’ll try on the contact lenses prescribed by the doctor. The doctor will check how well they fit and whether the prescription is effective. Sometimes, you may try a few different types of lenses during this appointment to find the best option.

After training and fit confirmation, you’ll take home trial lenses to wear for several days up to a week. This trial period allows the doctor to monitor how your eyes respond to the lenses over time and gives you a chance to evaluate the comfort and vision quality.

You’ll return for a follow-up appointment, and if everything looks good, the doctor will finalize your prescription so you can purchase your contacts. If any adjustments are needed, we’ll begin the trial process again to ensure the perfect fit.

Our Contact Lens Services:

  • Thumbnail dispoasable
Disposable contact lenses are generally considered to be far superior in comfort and wearability than hard and rigid lenses.
  • Thumbnail contact exam
A routine exam won’t provide some of the measurements and testing that are required to determine if your eyes are suitable for contact lens wear, and to generate your contact lens Rx.
  • Thumbnail contacts senior
Fortunately for those who don’t like the look, feel or inconvenience of reading glasses, there is another option. Bifocal and multifocal lenses are also available in contact lenses in both soft and rigid varieties.
  • Thumbnail contacts 3
These rigid lenses aren’t as popular or well-known as soft lenses, but they offer the advantages of durability, crisp vision and high oxygen permeability.
  • Thumbnail contacts astig
“I can’t wear soft contacts; I have astigmatism.” This once-true statement is now simply a myth.
  • Thumbnail contacts 4
Challenges such as astigmatism, presbyopia, keratoconus and dry eyes needn’t be a barrier to contact lens wear, but they do require more time and patience.
  • Thumbnail contacts brands
We carry all of the top contact lens brands!
